چکیده

Temperature cycling optical hole-burning experiments on cresyl violet in ethanol glass are reported. At 1.3 K a hole is burned and measured. The temperature if then raised to 2.1 IQ the hole is measured. The temperature is returned to I, 3 K, and the hole is again measured. The hole is observed to be narrow at 1.3 K, broader at 2.1 K, and then narrow again when the temperature is returned to 1.3 IL. Using the time-dependent hole widths and photon echo data at the two temperatures, the results can be accounted for quantitatively using the tunneling two-level system model of glasses. Models of glasses, which involve processes such as spatial diffusion of defects, cannot account for the data.

Moisture Diffusion Properties of Fabric Composite (Glass Fiber/Epoxy Resin)

In this study, the effect of hygrothermal conditioning on the moisture diffusion properties of the fabric composite (glass fiber/epoxy resin) was investigated. The water uptake of the specimens conditioned in humid environment at different relative humidities (0, 60 and 96 % r.h) at constant temperature (60°C) was evaluated by weight gain measurements. The moisture diffusion properties of the f...

Diffusive Dynamicsof Binary Lennard-Jones Liquid in the Presence of Gold Nanoparticle: A Mode Coupling Theory Analysis

Molecular dynamics simulation has been performed to analyze the effect of the presence of gold nanoparticle on dynamics of Kob-Anderson binary Lennard-Jones (BLJ) mixture upon supercooling within the framework of the mode coupling theory of the dynamic glass transition. The presence of gold nanoparticle has a direct effect on the liquid structure and causes the peaks of the radial distribution ...

An investigation on the effect of acetone and DMF as solvent on synthesis of P2O5-CaO-Na2O-TiO2 glass powder by sol-gel method

The sol-gel synthesis method allows greater control over glass morphology at a relatively low processing temperature (200 °C) in comparison with melt-derived glasses. In present study, phosphate-based glasses with the general formula of (P2O5)55-(CaO)25-(Na2O)10-(TiO2)10 was synthesized via a novel and facil...

Linking rigidity transitions with enthalpic changes at the glass transition and fragility: insight from a simple oscillator model.

A low temperature Monte Carlo dynamics of a Keating-like oscillator model is used to study the relationship between the nature of network glasses from the viewpoint of rigidity, the thermal reversibility during the glass transition and the strong-fragile behaviour of glass-forming liquids. The model shows that a Phillips optimal glass formation with minimal enthalpic changes is obtained under a...

Microstructure, mechanical and thermal properties of chalcogenide glasses and glass-ceramics based on Se-As-Ge system nucleated by Sn

In particular, chalcogenide glasses and glass-ceramics are new materials that exhibit good transparency in infrared region (0.8-12µm). We can overcome the main weakness of these glasses by improving the hardness through controlling crystallization. In this paper, we report results of a study on chalcogenide glasses in the ternary system of As-Se-Ge with nominal composition of Snx (Se...
